We spent the first part of our North Dakota week in Fargo, but learned of an amazing opportunity to see something special in Bismarck, just about 3 hours away. When your house has wheels, you can be a little spontaneous. So we decided to head west.
We attended the 49th annual United Tribes International Powwow in Bismarck, ND. This was like nothing we had ever seen before. There were hundreds of Native Americans from all over the place dressed in the most spectacular regalia. These traditions are so important to the culture of many of the tribes in attendance and it is encouraging to see them passed along throughout the generations. One of my favorite moments was the below drum group that shared their beautiful and powerful tradition at the event. This is an unforgettable experience to behold.
